Originally allocated USAAF serial 44-84740, P-51D-25-NT A68-774 was delivered to the RAAF on August 12, 1945 and was received at 76 Squadron (where it served in these markings) on September 13.
In July 1950 while based in Japan, this aircraft suffered an accident and was subsequently converted to components and written off.

This aircraft was originally allocated the USAAF serial 44-13106. Delivered to the RAAF in June 1945 it was initially placed in storage before being allocated to No 2 Operational Training Unit at Mildura, Victoria.
In June 1950 the aircraft was transferred to the Melbourne Technical College as an instructional airframe. Later it was relocated to Canberra and stored in the Treloar Technology Centre. Today the aircraft is presented in its original markings in the Bradbury Aircraft Hall at the Australian War Memorial.
